The Girls

I'm amazed at how quickly the girls change.  In just the last month Summer got 2 more teeth and Kylie started saying new phrases like "Um, I need a hand."  I'll definitely journal all of the things I can about what life is like for us right now, but I'll just put a few highlights on here.

SUMMER
She is at such a fun age and she's almost always happy.  It's great!  She's also our little social butterfly.  In the grocery store, she says hi to everyone.  She's also very loud.  At church we spend a lot of time in the halls--not because she's fussy, but because she babbles so loudly.  I'll admit that I LOVE how naturally friendly she is.  Her vocabulary is pretty impressive and I'm amazed at how quickly she picks up on new words and phrases.
She's pretending to say "hello" on a telephone
Every baby has a certain "thing" that they constantly get into.  She has several.  (1) The DVD stand.  No baby can resist.  (2) The pantry.  She will open it, grab a snack that she wants, and bring it directly to you while saying "thank you."  (3) My bathroom cupboard.  She always finds my chapstick and refuses to leave until I pretend to put some on her.

This child has a mop of hair!  It has gotten longer and thicker during the past month and I'm just grateful she leaves her hair ties in.

She eats constantly.  She eats an impressive amount of food for such a little thing!  I think she takes after me though-- I'm a grazer too.

Summer has become quite the go-getter.  If there is something she wants, she'll figure out a way to get it (much to my dismay sometimes).  This little stool has become her new best friend and she carries it from room to room all day long.  She'll bring it into the bathroom while I get ready in the morning.  It ends up next to my bed... or next to the table... or the pantry.  Despite her mischief, we sure adore her!
KYLIE
Her imagination has suddenly come to life!  She has gotten really good at entertaining herself because she creates pretend scenarios to act out.  Today she told me that we needed to rescue the baby chinchilla because it was trapped in the tree (my closet).  On another occasion she dressed up as a princess, waved her little wand at me, and told me I turned into a puma.  Really???
Here she is giving her pretend puppies a bath.

She is a very polite and considerate little girl.  Summer usually only takes one nap each day and Kylie is very good about only doing quiet activities during that time.  She is the first to apologize if you accidentally bump into her and always remembers to ask permission to leave the table after a meal.  When I drop her off at nursery each week at church, I have to talk her out of bringing her snack with her because she wants to share with everybody.
She enjoys learning new things and practicing them.  We're currently working on writing letters and sounding them out.  She knows what most letters sound like individually but now we're working on putting small words together.  She's actually pretty artistic and prefers drawing over coloring.  I'm thrilled that she has such a strong desire to learn!
Today she drew these shapes.  She identified the triangle, circle, and big oval.  I asked her what the other picture was (that funky one on the right) and after a short pause said, "A violin."  That's my new favorite "shape."
BFF's
It's so fun to watch how the girls interact with each other.  There are sometimes when Kylie feels the need to take away every toy that Summer wants to play with, but most of the time they giggle and play together just fine.  I love just soaking it in.

Isaac is loud in church too. He's usually a little cranky but even when he's not he's too loud to stay in class.
