Another Journey

Toilet seat adapter: check
Timer: check
Training pants: check
Reading material: check
Candy: check

That's right... the potty training has begun! I have a list of goals I would like to accomplish before the baby comes. Potty training is definitely at the top of that list, mainly because it would be ideal to have just one child in diapers rather than two. Plus, Kylie has been showing signs of readiness for months so... here we go!
Last week I had her in pull ups most of the time so I could get her comfortable with the idea of sitting on the potty. Today she tried underwear and did a fantastic job! Trust me, there were plenty of accidents (as I anticipated). She would willingly sit on the toilet but absolutely nothing would happen-- then she would go in her underwear 2 minutes after leaving the bathroom. Just when I was about to give up for the day, she told me had to go and actually went. Success!!!!
Rather than requesting a piece of candy as a reward, she wanted a bubble bath. I was more than happy to give her extra bubbles. She even went one more time after her bath. I realize that we have a long way to go, but I'm so proud of her for the progress she's made already. You go girl!!

Random side note: I had an amusing conversation with Kylie during one of our many trips to the bathroom today.

Kylie: Um, babe? Read Clifford book?
Mommy: You want me to read the Clifford book to you?
Kylie: Clifford! Yay!!!!
Mommy: Ok. But don't call me babe.
Kylie: So-rry.

Fun Stuff

This little pool has turned out to be such a worthwhile purchase!
Kylie only needs 2 things to keep her occupied for hours: water and a watering can (the hat is just a bonus).
Caught ya!
I lied... there is a third thing (or person) that can keep her occupied for hours: Uncle Kramer. Kylie ADORES him and I'm pretty sure it's mutual.

Sure love these guys! Unfortunately my dad recently pulled a hamstring and will have to sit out the rest of the season, but it has been so fun watching them take part in this activity together.

Kylie's New Habit

There are certain habits I knew I would have to break Kylie of eventually-- sucking on her fingers and carrying around her blanket, just to name a few. This one could be interesting!
Despite this new development, she has really started to take hold of another habit/routine we've been implementing for a long time: praying. For quite a while now she's been great about folding her arms, staying reverent, and even reminding us to pray. A couple of nights ago we had her "say" the prayer (repeat each word after us) and she surprised us by going on a little tangent about how grateful she was to swim in her pool and play outside. We're so excited that she's starting to understand the concept! For now we'll take the good habits with the bad :)

My Guys

Since I am awful at blogging right on holidays, I am doing this a day early. Happy Father's Day to the wonderful men in my life!

Dad... youda man. Thank you for being my #1 fan. You are such a dedicated father and I realize that you have had to make many sacrifices for our family. I appreciate your involvement in my life: Brownie Daddy/Daughter Dances, gymnastics competitions, track meets, band concerts, class parties, graduation, my wedding, etc. You've shown your support during major events, but I equally appreciate your support every single day. Watching you interact with my own daughter brings me so much joy. I love you.
Josh... I'm not sure words can express how much I adore you. I always knew you would be an amazing husband, but you have completely exceeded my expectations as a father. Kylie is SO lucky to have you as a dad and I can tell you mean the world to her. Day in and day out you are patient, energetic, and loving. Not every father is willing to brush their daughter's hair in the morning or play dolls. You do and I love that about you. Our little girl on the way has so much to look forward to. This video reminds me of you--thanks for making our daughter feel so special.

Nothing New

I posted this picture on the blog about a year ago to depict how life as a mom can sometimes feel. Today I post this picture because it shows how (I feel) I cope with the waiting game.

I WISH that I had information to pass on regarding Josh's job and the move, but that just isn't the case. Even though Josh spent the past 4 days in Utah, we still don't have any answers.

So here's the thing: I am definitely a planner. I realize that life throws you curves and sometimes you just have to be flexible. However, spontaneously moving 'cross country while 7 months pregnant was just not at the top of my list of things to do this summer. Since we're still not 100% sure when we're going, lots of other little things are in limbo.

Our tentative move date is June 30, but they may need us there even a week before that. That is 2 1/2 weeks away. I really hope that all of the details get finalized this week, otherwise I just might go crazy! I'll update you all as soon as I hear something!
