Kylie's First Christmas

This is coming a little late, but... Merry Christmas! This year we couldn't afford to travel for the holidays, but we were blessed to spend them with friends and family.
On Christmas Eve we enjoyed having Megan and Mario over. They gave Kylie these cute little bear slippers that have bells inside them. She was fascinated with them all evening.

They brought their dog, Reggae, and Kylie enjoyed chasing him around... poor guy.
Kylie has been blessed with my wild hair, so Christmas Day started out with a nice bath to "tame" her hair. Plus baths always get her in a good mood.
Wearing the adorable outfit Grandma J got her- it says "Baby's First Christmas" on the front.
It took a little while for her to get the hang of unwrapping gifts. She was more interested in each tiny piece of paper she managed to get off more than the gift itself. But it was fun to watch.

Whew! What a busy morning!
When things settled down a little, we relaxed and enjoyed a little Christmas music. Kylie helped conduct "Christmas Canon" for us. Enjoy!

Lots of Updates

Kylie is now 11 months old and busy as ever! She manages to get into everything... and I mean everything.
This one was actually my fault. We attempted to make a mold of her hand, and she refused to hold her hand in place. Instead she took a handful of the goo and smeared it all over herself. Then once it hardened, she ate it. *sigh* Silly girl.

Up until now she has been army crawling everywhere, but about a week ago she started ACTUALLY crawling on all fours. That is now her preferred method of getting around.
We have had a few encounters with Santa this holiday season. Kylie has been fascinated each time. This is our friend dressed up as Santa Claus :)
Kylie has experimented with standing on her own. Once she is balanced, she will start clapping or will raise her hands up above her head as if to say, "Look at me!"

For the past couple of weeks we have been battling colds, and failing miserably. As a result, Kylie has had some of the worst diapers I have ever encountered in my life. P.U.!!

We will update again as soon as possible. Enjoy the holiday!!

Daddy's Girl

10 Months Old

Our little girl is 10 months old today! This month Kylie learned to pull herself up, which assists in her efforts to get into absolutely everything. Unfortunately, bruises show up frequently as she learns to explore new places. She has also learned to mimic words and sounds that Mom and Dad make.

She has also become very ticklish recently. I like this video because it shows off her cute little teeth :)

It has been a month and a half since our condo flooded, and it is finally fixed! As I'm sure some of you may remember, we had a gaping hole right above our shower. Since they couldn't find a ceiling tile that would match the rest of our shower, they replaced the whole thing.

Luckily, the shower only looked that horrible for one day. They ripped out the shower on one day, and replaced it the next. We are thrilled to finally be done with all of the repairs!

Kylie now knows a few little words! I only have a video of her saying "mama", but she can also say dada and baba/babo (bottle). I know, babies mumble all sorts of things, but she's been pretty consistent when she chooses to say these things.

My Growing Girl

It seems like all sorts of things are new with Kylie that I just forget to blog. She now has 4 teeth (2 bottom, 2 top) and will probably get a 5th tooth in the next day or two. She has all sorts of interesting habits that just remind me that she has a personality all her own. She likes to "fake cough", clap at random times, and "talk" while she cries.
As chaotic as life can be with this energetic little one, reading to her is one of my favorite things to do. I just LOVE how she smiles every time I turn the page.
Another interesting time of day is naptime. I always find her in the weirdest positions. I think this "bum in the air" pose is my favorite. She also likes to sit up in her crib- she's going to pull herself up any day now, I can feel it!
I hate to admit it, but Kylie dresses way better than I do! She's ready for winter!

Our Favorite Pastime

I think every couple needs to have a hobby that each person equally enjoys. For us, it is pool. When we first moved in to our complex, one of the perks was that the clubhouse had a pool table. Look how huge that is! And whenever we go, nobody else is up there. It's fabulous. I really look forward to going a couple times each week because life can get pretty crazy. I enjoy spending quality time with Josh while perfecting a talent (yes, I am actually very good at pool).

I'm winning :)

We usually can't go until later in the evening when Josh gets home from work, so Kylie is pretty tired by then. But... her cheerios keep her pretty content.

I brought Kylie to class with me today- she fit in nicely :)

Recent Developments

Kylie is growing up so fast! Her top left tooth came in, and the right one is well on its way. This isn't the most flattering picture of her, but I had a hard time getting a picture of her teeth.
Her hair is now long enough to put into pigtails. Yay! She can also stand up (with some help). She hasn't pulled herself up yet, but if you set her next to some kind of furniture, she can balance there for a while. She is now officially a cheerios girl. We gave her cheerios this past Sunday and she was content ALL through church- that is definitely a record! She was pretty wiped out afterwards.
Kylie is now mobile. She still prefers to army crawl everywhere, but now that she can pull herself back up to a sitting position, she can reach things. It's starting...

Cute Kylie

This little girl reminds me everyday what is important in life. I can be having the most stressful day ever, and then I look at that cute little smile and instantly I'm the happiest person on earth.

She LOVES blinds
She still hasn't quite figured out the sippy cup, but we have to give her credit for trying so hard.
*sigh* Whatever keeps her happy...
Josh and Kylie have the sweetest little relationship. Her little face just lights up when he gets home from work- his face lights up almost as much.

Under Construction

Well, the condo is slowly being repaired. The areas that were really damaged have been cut out and will be replaced with new sheetrock.

Until then, we have fans blowing non-stop to dry the insulation and they are LOUD! At one time we had 4 of these going in the living room, 1 in our bedroom, and 1 in the bathroom (that made taking a shower very interesting).
Hopefully this will all be fixed in a couple of days...

Just Another Day In Paradise

This afternoon our upstairs neighbor's apartment flooded. A washing machine broke while no one was home, so the water seeped down to the floors below. Yup, that meant ours. What started out as a tiny trickle of water through our smoke detector turned into THIS.
The bathroom ceiling caved in and one wall got completely drenched.

Get this: it even seeped into our living room! Gross.

*sigh* What a day. We're not exactly sure how or when this will all be repaired, but we're interested to find out!

Kylie & Callie looking very grown up

That picture has nothing to do with my post- just thought it was cute :)

Grandma J, I know you like your updates so here is the latest on Kylie. She is still working on the crawling thing but she gets closer everyday. She does a lot of reaching and pushing off of her feet/knees. In this video, she is reaching for some chapstick. Sorry the video quality isn't the greatest- it was in the evening and I didn't want to draw attention to the fact that I was recording so I didn't turn any lights on.

Bath Time!

Now that Kylie can sit up on her own, she has moved on to the big girl bathtub. She LOVED it.

One of a Kind

Sometimes she enjoys being alone, but as soon as she knows you're watching, it's a party.

This video is awesome because it shows...
1. Classic facial expressions.
2. Her hair speaks volumes... literally.
3. She taps her left foot when she gets impatient. Only the left.

Kylie officially has her bottom 2 teeth. Her sleep schedule has been a little off, but overall she's handled it well (thanks to baby Tylenol and frozen teething rings). Unfortunately she's crying in this picture, but it shows off her little teeth- look closely :)

Uncle Kyle

My brother has been serving in the Air Force overseas for the past few months. He came to visit us at the end of August, which happened to be his first time meeting Kylie. She had him wrapped around her little finger in about 2 minutes.

We got rained on at Provo Park. Kyle offered Kylie "protection" from the rain.
Hm... where did Kylie go?
